Open Golem Docs

For developers

Plain files, and a sync you can reason about.

Every document is a real file, in its real format, in a folder you choose. Point Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or your own scripts at it. The demo on the home page has a terminal tab.

What’s in the folder

The sync rules

A file changed hereThe file wins. If the account changed too, its copy is kept as a version first.
A file was deletedThe document goes to the account’s trash for 30 days.
A file was moved or renamedSame bytes, new place: it stays one document, with its history.
Ten or more files vanishThe sync holds and asks. It’s usually a drive that isn’t mounted.
How oftenThe folder is checked every 4 seconds, the account every minute.

Keeping the folder in step with your account, and through it your other devices and the people you share with, comes with sync, $3 a month. Without it, the folder and Golem Docs still keep in step on this computer, and versions and the trash are kept on it. On the same computer, a change in the folder shows up in Golem Docs within a few seconds, and one made in Golem Docs reaches the folder within a minute. Other devices look at your account about once a minute.

An AGENTS.md for your folder

Agents read an instructions file at the top of the folder. Here is a starting point; change it to suit how you file things.

AGENTS.md
# This folder is my second brain

It is my Golem Docs folder: every file here is a document in my account,
and what you change here syncs to all my devices.

- Search the folder before you write about a topic, and build on the notes
  that are already there.
- Put each new note in the folder that fits its topic. List the folders
first. Ask before creating a new top-level folder.
- Use [[wikilinks]] to related notes, and add new notes to the folder's
  index note.
- Keep my own notes in my voice. Add links or a line at the end; don't
  rewrite what I wrote.
- Never touch .golemdocs/.
