Convert a PDF to Word without uploading it
Open a PDF in Golem Docs, choose File ▸ Convert To ▸ Word, and you get an editable .docx made from it. The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded to a server, and you don't need an account.
How to do it
- Open the PDF. Drop it onto the Golem Docs window, or choose File ▸ Open.
- Choose File ▸ Convert To ▸ Word. The PDF becomes a Word document you can edit like any other.
- Download it. Choose File ▸ Download to get the .docx.
What comes across
- The text, kept where the PDF had it, with headings in bold and the text's color.
- Pictures, including ones that are turned or mirrored, and black-and-white fax scans.
- Vector drawings, such as logos, charts, line art, and QR codes, kept as sharp pictures that stay clear however far you zoom.
- Running headers and footers, such as dates, titles, and page numbers, which become the document's header and footer.
What to know
- It is a reflowed copy. The text is yours to edit, but the page layout won't match the original exactly. To change a PDF and keep it a PDF, use Edit PDF.
- Scanned pages are pictures. A PDF made by scanning paper has no text to convert, so its pages come across as pictures.
